A Message from our CEO
Founder and CEO Steve Longoria, a Certified Counterterrorism Planner, a Certified Homeland Security Professional Level III, and Certified Project Manager, leads Aanko, with over 36 years of experience in leading multidisciplinary planning and implementation teams for government and private sector clients across the world. Mr. Longoria has the distinct honor of being the only person in Department of Defense history to be recognized as the top professional in three different career classifications: Antiterrorism, Security, and Safety.

Federal. Aanko’s U.S. Federal Government Market Area continues to exceed client expectations over the past 16 years through precise attention to detail, unmatched professionalism and industry-leading knowledge and expertise in Emergency Management, Information Technology, Safety & Security and Creative Solutions.
Our work includes operational successes within the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, as well as the US Department of Transportation, and the US Department of Agriculture.
Our new Seaport-E contract with the US Navy will continue Aanko’s outstanding service to our country.
State and Local. Aanko’s State and Local Government Market Area is a source of pride and commitment to our team of professionals. From developing the State of California Continuity of Government Plan for the Executive Branch, to developing the physical and information security standards for Covered California, the State’s Health Benefit Exchange under the Affordable Care Act, Aanko has exceeded all task objectives and achieved exceptional results.
At the local level, Aanko has developed intensive emergency operations and safety and security plans, and tested those plans through varied drills and exercises. Our efforts continue to provide outstanding service to our state and local clients.
The State of California’s renewal of our California Multiple Award Schedule (CMAS) until 2024 will ensure Aanko will maintain its exceptional service to our state and local clients.
Corporate. Aanko has collected a group of seasoned professionals to assist our private sector clients on a variety of marketing and business strategies. From Workplace Violence Prevention and Active Shooter hands-on training, to corporate Governance, Risk Management and Compliance (GRC) , Aanko has remained steadfast in ensuring our customers “Lead the Journey…”™at the forefront of their profession. Corporate clients include Google, Facebook, Oracle, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, and Nike.
Industrial. Aanko delivers high-quality Industrial Control Systems (ICS) cyber security and physical security assessments for Industrial clients, including how to select testing areas to ensure the correct amount of detail to meet the needs of the asset owner while retaining the flexibility to use all the skills of the assessment teams. Aanko also provides GRC solutions, training and safety audits to ensure complete umbrella protection and productivity of industrial sites. Industrial clients include Clorox, Genentech, and Olin Corporation.
Healthcare. Aanko’s dynamic Healthcare solutions include implementation of information technology projects, compliance data mining and management, and safety, security and emergency management procedural development and associated training of professional and non-professional staff, and complete GRC of HIPPA and the Affordable Care Act, among others. Our clients include Covered California, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Western Health Advantage, Tricare, and Kaiser Permanente.
Executive Leadership
Steve Longoria, Chief Executive Officer
Steve is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Aanko. He has over 41 years of progressive and highly successful experience in assessing, designing and deploying safety, security and emergency management projects and systems in the public and private sectors. He has successfully project managed over 10,000 Safety, Security, Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations client projects in the past 20 years within all 16 national critical infrastructures. This includes leading development of the State of California Business Continuity Program, the State of California Energy Assurance Plan, the multi-western state energy assurance exercise, and the largest terrorism response exercise in State of California history. His expertise also extends to K-12 schools, institutes of higher education, and global resiliency partnerships in every continent. Steve is the only person in Department of Defense history officially recognized as the top expert in three different career classifications: Antiterrorism, Security and Safety during a 21-year U.S. Air Force (USAF) military career.
Ricardo Cruz Gomez, Senior Vice President, Science and Technology
Ricardo is a versatile project manager with over 25 years of experience in various fields, and is a former U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps Officer. He has been a professor of Project Management at Seattle Central College and Year Up, a nationwide technology training program. Ricardo’s project leadership spans the government and private sector. He is an expert in emergency management, business continuity planning, tactical combat casualty care, and information technology. Highlights include: California Energy Assurance Plan and California Statewide Business Continuity Program development, the California Department of Food and Agriculture Hoof and Mouth Disease and Avian Flu Response, Covered California Security Assessment and Business Continuity Planning, development and evaluation of full scale terrorism exercises, as well as medical tech systems training of nurses and doctors.
Dan is a retired Fire Chief from the City of San Bruno, CA. He has over 40 years of demonstrated exceptional experience as a firefighter and emergency manager. Dan is a multi-talented, flexible professional with proven ability as a Field Training Officer. He has written comprehensive emergency management plans for city and county government. Dan is an articulate speaker and trainer and has led emergency teams as an Emergency Operations Center Manager. He has trained public and private sector teams in the Incident Command System (ICS) and has developed Business Continuity Plans and Programs for local and state governments.
Dan Abrams, Sr. Director, Emergency Management
Dan is a nationally acclaimed retired Fire Battalion Chief and Paramedic from the City of Redwood City, CA. He has over 40 years in the fire service and has been the San Mateo County (CA) Fire Academy Director and a primary Instructor for Fire Science at the College of San Mateo. Dan’s accolades include a Presidential Citation for his response to Hurricane Katrina. He responded in the recovery mode to the 2009 San Bruno California Natural Gas Pipeline Explosion as a Captain on an engine company. Dan has written comprehensive emergency management plans and has trained public and private sector entities on National Incident Management System (NIMS) compliance. He is a certified Fire Technology instructor through the State of California and has been a member of FEMA USAR CATF-3 since the early 90s, serving as a Rescue Specialist and Plans Section Chief.
Victor “Vic” Artiga, Sr. Director, Security Consulting and Training
Vic is a retired versatile law enforcement and intelligence leader with over 27 years of multifaceted experience in law enforcement, intelligence, counterterrorism, teaching and training development. He is a subject matter expert teaching international audiences in law enforcement, intelligence, and counterterrorism operations. He has worked as a former Deputy Director of Intelligence for the U.S. Army National Guard and has provided collaborative expertise to public sector and Fortune 100 companies, including the State of California, Facebook and Oracle.
Steve Blanc, Sr. Director, Security Consulting and Training
Steve is a retired 27-year public safety professional, with over 38 years of security and emergency management expertise. He has extensive experience with risk and security vulnerability assessments with expertise assisting clients in emergency management operations, physical security systems and business continuity integration. Steve has provided collaborative expertise to all 16 critical infrastructure sectors within the Aanko project sphere.
Joe Kruk, Sr. Director, Safety Consulting and Training
Joe has over 40 years of demonstrated experience in safety, security, and emergency management, including work in high threat field operations, and industrial hygiene. He has extensive experience with hazardous materials exposure monitoring and safety and security assessments, inspections and training. His work includes safety operations in high threat area working with the Air National Guard, as well as public and private sector industrial facilities and transit rail and bus safety operational assessments.
